The serer army had defeated the jihadists.
Maba Diakhou Bâ, after his victory in 1867 on Pinet Laprade at the Battle of Pathé Badiane, the jihadist marabout was influenced by the king of Cayor Lat Dior Ngoné Latyr Diop to launch a jihad in Sine. Lat Dior Ngoné Latyr had a tooth against the king of Sine, Koumba Ndoffène Diouf, after being defeated by the French at the Battle of Loro (January 12, 1864) and exiled to Sine.

Tanji Fishing center is one of the oldest vising community in The Gambia mostly populated by Serer and other ethnic groups. The Tanji fishing community is one of the most dynamic center contributing to the social economic development. It has employ thousands of youth who ventured into the fishing sector to earn a living and help the implementation of government efforts to attain food self-sufficiency. Recently, government has neglected the fishing sectors and Chinese predators are everywhere.
